Claim or Transfer a Business Listing

Is your business listing already managed by someone else? Have you purchased a business or become responsible for managing its online presence?

You may request a review of who is authorized to manage the listing on SWFL Trade Circle.

Submitting a request does not automatically transfer access. We review requests to help protect businesses against unauthorized changes.

When to Use This Process

You may request a review if:

  • Your business was claimed by someone without authorization.
  • A former employee, marketing agency, or representative still controls the listing.
  • You purchased the business.
  • The business’s authorized management has changed.
  • You have a dispute about who should manage the listing.

If you already control the listing and simply need to update its information, use your account’s listing-management tools.

Who May Request Access

Requests should come from the business owner or someone with documented authority to act for the business.

This may include an authorized officer, manager, managing member, or representative. We may require written authorization when the requester is acting on someone else’s behalf.

Being an employee, having access to a business email address, or appearing as a registered agent does not, by itself, establish authority to control a listing.

Business Listing Claim or Transfer Request

Include:

  • Your full name.
  • Your account email address.
  • Your role or relationship to the business.
  • The business’s full legal name.
  • Any trade name or “doing business as” name used on the listing.
  • A link to the SWFL Trade Circle listing.
  • The business’s Sunbiz document number or a link to its Sunbiz record, if available.
  • A business phone number and email address.
  • A brief explanation of why you are requesting access.
  • The date of any sale or management change, if applicable.

Do not attach photo identification, financial records, or confidential sale documents to your initial email. We will explain what evidence is needed and how to provide it appropriately.

How We Verify Requests

For businesses registered in Florida, we normally review the legal business name and available records through the Florida Division of Corporations, commonly known as Sunbiz.

We may compare the request with:

  • The entity’s legal name and document number.
  • Listed officers, managers, or authorized persons.
  • Relevant filings and their dates.
  • Trade names and other supporting business information.

You can locate public records through the official Sunbiz business search.

Sunbiz records are one source of information—not conclusive proof of ownership or current authority. Records may be incomplete, disputed, or awaiting an update.

A registered agent designation alone is not sufficient evidence of ownership or management authority.

Photo Identification and Supporting Evidence

We normally request government-issued photo identification from the owner or authorized person whose identity and authority we are verifying.

Photo identification helps verify identity. It does not, by itself, prove ownership of a business.

Depending on the request, we may also ask for relevant evidence such as:

  • Written authorization from an owner or authorized officer.
  • Current business filings.
  • Documentation connecting a trade name to the legal entity.
  • Relevant portions of a purchase or transfer agreement.
  • A signed statement identifying who is authorized to manage the listing.
  • Other information reasonably necessary to resolve inconsistencies.

We will explain which details must remain visible. Where appropriate, you may redact unrelated information, such as identification numbers, financial account details, purchase prices, or other information not needed for verification.

Do not redact information we have specifically identified as necessary without first asking us about an alternative.

Never submit passwords, verification codes, Social Security numbers, or payment-card information. Do not upload identification documents to a public listing, profile, review, or the website’s general image-upload fields.

If you cannot provide a requested document, contact us to discuss whether alternative evidence is acceptable.

If the Business Was Sold

A business sale does not automatically transfer control of its SWFL Trade Circle listing.

We may need to verify:

  • The identity and authority of the person making the request.
  • What business or assets were transferred.
  • The effective date of the transfer.
  • Whether the existing listing represents the continuing business or a different operation.

If public records have not yet been updated, explain the situation. Additional documentation may be needed.

Depending on the circumstances, we may transfer management of the existing listing, request corrections, or determine that a separate listing is more appropriate.

A transfer does not automatically remove existing reviews or listing history. Any changes to historical information will be evaluated for accuracy and to avoid misleading visitors.

Review of an Already-Claimed Listing

We may contact the current listing manager, the business, or other relevant parties to request clarification.

We may share a summary of the claim and information reasonably needed to assess it. We do not provide the current listing manager with your photo ID merely to notify them of a dispute.

If we identify a credible concern, we may temporarily restrict listing changes while reviewing the request.

A current manager’s failure to respond does not automatically prove your claim or guarantee a transfer.

Please do not create duplicate listings or new accounts to bypass the review process.

Possible Outcomes

After reviewing the available information, we may:

  • Approve access for an authorized account.
  • Transfer listing-management access.
  • Remove access that appears unauthorized.
  • Request additional evidence.
  • Correct listing information.
  • Keep the current arrangement when the request is not adequately supported.
  • Restrict management access while an unresolved dispute continues.
  • Recommend a separate listing when appropriate.

We do not guarantee approval or a specific completion time. More complex or disputed requests may take longer.

What a Transfer Does—and Does Not—Include

Approval concerns management of the business listing on SWFL Trade Circle.

It does not transfer ownership of the legal business, establish trademark rights, determine contractual rights, or constitute a legal finding.

We do not transfer another person’s login credentials, personal account, or unrelated private messages as part of a listing transfer.

Listing approval is not certification of a business’s licensing, insurance, qualifications, or quality of work.

Disputed Legal Ownership

SWFL Trade Circle is not a court or business-ownership registry.

If competing parties provide conflicting evidence, we may decline to transfer access until the dispute is clarified through an agreement, updated records, a court order, or other reliable documentation.

You may need to consult an attorney or the appropriate authority. Our listing-management decision does not determine the parties’ underlying legal rights.

Privacy of Verification Information

Information supplied for verification is not intended for public display.

We use it to assess identity and authority, prevent unauthorized access, communicate about the request, and maintain appropriate administrative records.

Relevant information may be handled by people or service providers assisting with that process, or disclosed when required by law, as described in our Privacy Policy.

We request only information reasonably necessary for the review. Before collecting sensitive documents, we will explain the submission method and applicable handling and retention arrangements.

For questions about your verification information, email info@swfltradecircle.com.

Accurate and Authorized Requests

By submitting a request, you confirm that:

  • The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • You are the owner or have authority to act for the business.
  • You have permission to provide the documents submitted.
  • You are not seeking access through impersonation, deception, or an unresolved claim you have concealed.

False, misleading, or altered evidence may result in denial, account restrictions, or other appropriate action.

Requesting Reconsideration

If your request is denied or you believe relevant information was overlooked, reply with a clear explanation and any additional evidence.

Please identify the listing and your original request so we can connect the information.
